New York Kitchen Mission
MISSION: New York Kitchen is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to educate, engage and excite our visitors in a celebration of the incredible agriculture, craft beverage and culinary industries of New York State.
What We Believe: Education and nutrition go hand in hand at New York Kitchen. Through our youth camps we strive to create unique and hands-on learning experiences that improve the minds and bodies of each student. We believe that knowledge is power and our hope is to leave each participant more empowered and with tangible dreams for their futures.
NYK proudly partners with local youth and civic organizations to provide “Free of Charge” cooking camps and classes to area youth interested in a future within the culinary arts and hospitality industries. These youth take part in week-long hands-on camps that work to improve the workforce development and economic impact of the region. Some of these youth organizations include the following; Boys & Girls Club of Rochester, Boys & Girls Club of Geneva, 4H Camp Bristol Hills, Champion Academy, Education Success Foundation and the Explorers Club of America.
Each day we drive our mission forward through our educational hands-on cooking and craft beverage pairing classes, in our industry certification courses, in our 100% New York State Tasting Room, throughout our events and in our Restaurant and Bar where we highlight seasonally fresh and locally sourced ingredients.
What is there to do at New York Kitchen?
In our Wine Spectator Theatre guests can participate in various craft beverage pairing classes highlighting NYS beers, wines, and spirits. We also are one of the only locations in the Northeast to offer Levels 1 and 2 of the Sommelier Exam and offer Levels 1-3 of the Wine and Spirit Education Trust certification program. The Wine Spectator Theatre is also a wonderful setting for food and beverage demos where guests watch and learn how NYS agriculture can be utilized in so many ways.
Want to get hands-on? Sign up for one of our hands-on cooking classes in one of our state-of-the-art kitchens. We offer classes that feature NYS agriculture products and teach you how to cook like a pro! NYK offers classes such as Upstate Classics, Successful Saute, Knife Skills to Whole Food Plant Based Cooking and even a Chef’s Table which all feature products found in our great state.
We are proud to showcase a 100% New York State filled Tasting Room where we feature 10 taps of NYS Craft Beers and Ciders, Wines from across the state as well as locally made spirits. Try these out in one of our featured flights, purchase a glass before a class or take home a bottle to enjoy later.
