We are neither a culinary school nor an institute. We are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that showcases New York’s dynamic agriculture, wine, craft beer, and food industries. NY Kitchen’s state-of-the-art facility overlooking Canandaigua Lake features a variety of event spaces to explore, and experiences to guide you along your New York State culinary journey!
There is so much to explore at the New York Kitchen! We feature our local-fare restaurant, the Restaurant, a Tasting Room featuring flights of New York State wines, beers and spirits, and the Pantry filled with gourmet food products and culinary treasures. In addition, we offer interactive cooking classes and beer and wine education classes that are open to the public! Registration for the classes in advance is encouraged, as they typically sell out quickly so check out our events calendar today! Are you looking for the perfect venue for a private event? We can help! Contact our front desk and we would be happy to have you join us for a tour of our breath-taking event spaces.
You can register for a class online, by calling 585.394.7070, or in person at NYK. Register online here and select the class you would like to attend. When you are ready to check out, proceed to the shopping cart and complete the registration and payment process as directed. You will receive an email confirmation once you are successfully registered. Have additional questions? Contact us at 585.394.7070.
Don’t worry, no tickets are needed to attend your class. You will simply use your name to check in at the Front Desk upon arrival.
Please plan on arriving 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time to allow proper time to check in. Arrive a little too early? Take some time to explore! Taste some flavors of New York State in our Tasting Room or grab a quick drink or bite to eat in the Restaurant.
We ask that you wear comfortable, casual clothing and closed toed shoes. An apron will be provided for use during the class.
Culinary classes are generally 2-2.5 hours. Beverage classes typically run 1-2 hours.
There are two different formats:
Hands-On Kitchen: These are full participation classes. Guests work in groups to prepare different portions of the class menu. At the end of the class, all participants share the meal, which is often paired with New York State wine or beer. Each participant will go home with copies of the recipes prepared during the class.
Demonstration Theater: These classes are designed in more of a lecture style, but they also involve class participation. Specific formats vary, but classes typically include a chef demonstration and/or a food & beverage pairing.
It is always a good idea to add your name to the waitlist for a class that is of interest to you. You do not need to submit payment information until a spot becomes available. If an opening becomes available, you will be notified by phone or email.
Class ticket purchases are non-refundable or exchangeable for any reason. This is because New York Kitchen purchases materials and plans for classes based on the number of participants registered. However, if you’d like to offer your seat in that class to a friend or family member, we’d be happy to let them take your seat. Patrons should use the original purchaser’s name upon arrival at check-in.
