Old World Wines vs. New World Wines

What’s Old? What’s New? During your wine exploration journey, have you heard people discussing this topic and you nod along but you’re not really sure of all the nuances? Would you like to know more? There are many primary distinctions between the two designations including wine making styles, production, regulation and even labeling. Every major wine growing region is located between 30’ and 50” latitude in both the northern and southern hemispheres, so with similar climates why are there so many differences? Let’s find out.
Join us as we explore Old World & New World wines and wine making and then let’s put them to the test. We will taste 4 wine varieties, two each from new world and old world-BLIND. Will you be able to tell the difference?
Potential wines include:
- Cabernet Sauvignon
- Pinot Noir
- Sauvignon Blanc
- And maybe even a Lemberger, Rose or Port.
