Everyone loves a hearty brunch with a hot cup of coffee or their favorite cocktail, and Easter is one of the biggest brunch days of the year. According the Oxford English Dictionary, “Brunch” was a term coined back in 1895 by Punch Magazine. Brunch has since become a popular, trendy treat for those who aren’t traditional breakfast eaters and those who just love the social aspect!
Most people love their brunch cocktails just as much as the delicious food, so here are our favorite cocktails we feature in our Brunch Bites & Flights class and some notes on what to pair them with!
1:1 Orange juice to Sparkling wine, garnish with an orange slice.
We like to switch it up and use Red Jacket Orchards Apricot Stomp or Strawberry Fuji Juice to add some fun flavors, balance, and NY State Juice to ours! Start with a Brut sparkling wine to balance the sweetness of the juice (even orange juice is a bit sweet!) and we like to add a little more sparkling wine than juice.
Pair the Fuji Strawberry Mimosa with Chicken & Waffles
Pair the Classic Orange Mimosa with Breakfast Pizza
Believed to be named for Mary I of England, this bold cocktail mainly consists of vodka, tomato juice, and some spice. We recommend using Saint Lawrence Spirits Vodka as a base!
1 1/2 oz vodka
1/2 cup tomato juice
2 tsp of lemon juice (fresh if possible)
3 dashes Tabasco sauce
5 dashes Worcestershire sauce
pinch of salt and pepper
1 tsp celery salt
We like to add green olives, pickle, and bacon to our garnish! You can also up the spice to taste- For some real spice, rim the glass with Tabasco and black pepper! Too much heat? Rim your glass with lemon juice and coarse salt (we recommend Seneca Salt Company Lemon Salt).
Pair with Bacon, Egg, & Cheese Breakfast Sandwich
